Transylvania The Magic Cottage Garden Room

The Magic Cottage features in Episode 1 of the next series of Flavors of Romania on Netflix.

The Magic Cottage is a cozy homestay located in the quiet village of Ocna de Jos in the heart of the Salt Region, just 3 kilometers from Praid and the famous Salt Mine, Salt Valley and Praid Live Butterfly House.

The spa town of Sovata with its beautiful Ursu lake, healing spas and a wide range of restaurants and supermarkets is 15 minutes away. The village of Corund is only 5 kilometers away, and attractions such as the Straw Hat Museum, the statue of the Heart of Jesus and the Mini Transilvania Park are all within an easy driving distance.

Magic Cottage is the perfect retreat for couples, solo female travelers and people who work from home.. Superfast internet is available free of charge. The property is not recommended for traveling with children.

The ground floor bedroom is large and has been renovated in a traditional modern style with vintage accents. It has a super comfortable king size bed dressed in white linen and cozy duvet and feather pillows.

There are bedside tables and lamps, a chest of drawers, an armchair and a desk and a comfortable chair for working remotely. 

There is a coffee machine, electric kettle and mini fridge in the room. Tea, coffee and mineral water are supplied free of charge.

There is full tourist information in a folder in the room plus board games for guests relaxation.

The room has its own ensuite shower room with rain shower, hand held shower, loo, washbasin and storage for your things.

The two front windows face onto the garden and the back window, onto a neighboring farmer's wood stack.

There is a chest of drawers, a comfortable armchair, bedside tables, reading lamps and a desk with a chair for work. There is also a hanging rail with hand-painted vintage hangers.

The space is heated with an electric heater.

In the room there is a mini fridge, coffee maker, electric kettle, tea and coffee, wine and water glasses and a bottle opener.

A selection of books, decor magazines, chess, backgammon, scrabble and playing cards are provided for guests' relaxation.

An extra bed can be added to the room at a cost of 20 euros/night.

Toiletries are provided, as well as a hairdryer. Handmade cotton bathrobes from India hang from hooks on the bathroom door.

Yoga mats are provided as well as umbrellas for rainy days. There are also two relaxing hammocks in the garden.

A simple and delicious vegan breakfast is served between 08:00 and 10:00.

Guests are welcome to use the cottage kitchen. Please co-ordinate with Rosie and the kittens.

The last 750 meters of the village road is a typical Transylvanian rough country road.

The water supply may be interrupted during periods of extreme drought.

A family of friendly cats live at The Magic Cottage.
